When you do a ping, what does the mdev statistic means?
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 2.052/2.595/3.139/0.545 ms

I don't *know* either, but I'd suspect it is either mean deviation,
sum(|rtt(i) - avg|)/n for i=1,n
where n is the number of rtts, or median deviation.
