Learned ones,
What is the set-up for peer-to-peer network for 2 home pc.. Could we
use 2 network cards link with standard network cable? heard that a
twisted standard network cable is needed.
And what are settings needed to be configured for Windows98 and Linux.
Thanks.

Those are good suggestions. In future you might want to consider one of
the ADSL/cable firewall/router devices (such as Linksys or D-Link). They
provide firewall functionality and NAT (network address translation)
so you can access the internet from all of your PCs. Also you won't have
to worry about "hardening" each one with its own firewall. These devices
are really quite cheap these days and very easy to setup. That presupposes
that you are (going to) connect via ADSL or cable-modem.
