Just use SIP, check out www.vovida.com open source and owned by cisco.

there is also a book out about it.

SIP is the future folks.

Gee.. There's a value-added message.. Sheesh..

As for where to get yourself a SIP image, I see them floating around here
and there when people occasionally ask for them on some mailing list. I
got my phone converted by a small VOIP company in the mid-west US that was
charging $5.00/mo for basic service and he converted my phone for me.. I ended
up staying with his services for about 6-8 months and later terminated my
service since I wasn't using it anymore...

As for why Cisco continues to want big $$ for firmware.... who knows..
