View Full Version : Automatically Start VPN Client When Computer Starts

We are currently using version 4.04(B) of the Cisco VPN Client and
would like to know if there is any way to automatically start the VPN
tunnel for the default connection entry when a computer starts up
(i.e. unattended). I know how to use the "Enable start before logon"
option and Auto-Initiation, but as far as I can tell both require user
intervention to start the VPN tunnel. We have a number of PC's using
broadband connections and would like to ensure that they start the VPN
tunnel when the PC is rebooted, without any user intervention.

On one installation that we had some time ago (I don't remember was it
ISDN DDR or VPN but it's the same idea), I added 'ping' command to
autoexec.bat, so ping started the connection after every boot-up.

Response to my own answer...
I've looked more closely at SR, and solution was for ISDN DDR, and
'ping' was not in autoexec.bat (at the time autoexec.bat is executed,
there's no IP connectivitiy). It was in login script.
Sorry, my mistake.
